11 Things I Learned And You Should Know

On my journey to take control of my health and my fitness, as well as my weight, i have learned a number of things.   Here are the top 11 of them.

1 -Fat doesn’t make you fat.

All that low-fat, fat-free stuff?  It tastes bad and all the chemicals in it are BAD for you!

2 – The scale is just a number!

You are more then that.  It is good for trending (up, or down) but the number itself is… meaningless.  I weigh 10.  I weight Q.  I weight Sigma.  These are all equivalent in meaning…

3 – Learn to cook!

Its how you get the best food,  the cheapest way.  Also, it is totally totally fun!

4 – Eat your vegetables. No really.

I didn’t quite used to like them as much as I do now.  But I branched out (haha) and tried new ones and they are AWESOME

5 – No matter how strong you get or how much you have arm muscles, sometimes you will still need help opening a jar.

And sometimes you will just need the major tool to help.

6 – Don’t let fear stop you from trying something new and getting what you want

7. Change what you don’t like

While events in your past may have affected how and why you eat, you are in charge of the choices you make.  IF you think your weight is a problem, it is YOUR problem.

8 – There is no magic pill, just work

9 – Find something you like doing. If you don’t like it you won’t do it.

10 – Nobody is perfect so don’t get down if you have a bad day/week/month. Just get back up and on track.

Once they sit down and shut up, get back on track, today is a new day.  Tomorrow is a new day too.

11 – When you start losing weight, you lose your boobs first ladies

Gadget reviews!

There are two new gadgets in my life.  One is the previously mentioned Ninja blender which i got for my birthday this year.  The other is a GTX101 indoor grill.  I have now tried both and can write a review of a sort, with pictures.

For the blender, so far i have mostly tried the single serving cup, because well there is only the one of me. 😀

Frozen fruit, Shakeology, water together blends really well, really fast.  certainly better then any blender i have ever owned before.

Please excuse the messy kitchen.  That is strawberries, peaches, chocolate Shakeology and some water.  3 pulses of about 2 seconds each and poof, awesome shake.  I have not yet tried the main pitcher with the 6 bladed rotating thing in it.  Once i hit the store this week i will have some more things to blend.

The GTX101 indoor grill was more of a breakfast maker.  2 eggs, some frozen bell peppers defrosted, some onions, and a bit of cheese.

The eggs cooked in about 4 minutes, which is how long it took me to set up the Ninja and find all the fruit to put in it and blend my shake, so the timing for breakfast was great!

I put the two egg halves together with the cheese inside, and they melted the cheese making it a rather nice omeletty sort of thing.  The non stick surface was great, i didn’t have to do anything other then wipe it down with a paper towel.  Technically i should have sprayed some non stick spray but honestly … i forgot to do that and nothing stuck to anything.

I think i would have to recommend both gadgets.  Super easy and convenient.

Black pepper

1 10 oz bag of baby spinach

1 red bell pepper

2 green onions

Heat oven to 375

Coat muffin tin with spray

Wisc all eggs together, add salt and pepper.

In a food processor, puree spinach, pepper and onion.

Add spinach, pepper, onion goop to the egg mixture

Evenly pour into muffin cups

Bake 25 min  until toothpick comes out clean

Tuna salad, the healthy way

How can Tuna Salad be healthy you may ask?  Well, easy!  THis is my favorite kind of tuna salad.  It is a meal in and of itself.  Pardon the picture, it is prior to addition of lovely red onions to make the food appealing and colorful lol

tuna

1 can of tuna

1 cup of brown rice, cooked

1 tablespoon red onions chopped

1 hard boiled egg

2 egg yolks

olive oil

salt

Put egg yolks into the blender and blend, slowly dripping in olive oil until  the mixture is mayonnaise consistency.  That’s cause it is mayonnaise lol!

Cook the rice.  Combine rice, tuna, onion in a bowl.  Crush the hard egg with a fork and also mix it in.  Now add the mayo until tuna salad consistency and salt to taste.

voila, done!

It is a brand new year.  I know i survived all the food, did you? There were cookies and cakes and pot lucks and brunches and well… yeah.  There were things 😀

But that was yesterday.  Today there was a workout, 6 miles walked, a reasonably healthy amount of food, and a lot of tea.

With a  brand new year, come all sorts of resolutions, and plans.  The  sorts that we mean to do but never really accomplish for longer then a few days right?  Well, no.  We can do it.  Together.

Join me, contact me on the side link right over there!  you know you want to and indeed, can 🙂 motivation 5
