It was about 1 minute of prep and 30 min in oven.  Delicious and spicy 🙂

Super Quick Tomato Soup

I found a number of versions of tomato soup recipes online, when i went to search for fun things to do with my new Ninja blender.  None of them were quite to my liking so i modified here and there, put my own spin on it and voila! here it is for all of you guys!

First things first, my Ninja is not a Vitamix, so i cant cook in it by the power of the motor.  And second… i hate celery.  So i omitted it, but of course you all can add it back in if you want 🙂

I took onion and garlic and carrot and microwaved them with a bit of water for 5 minutes.  This takes a bit of the raw edge off the onion and garlic and makes the carrot softer.

While all of that was steaming, I opened the cans of tomatoes and assembled the Ninja.  While at the store i had meant to find some diced tomatoes with Italian Seasoning, but Market Basket was out or something so i grabbed a jar that had garlic and basil.  Because seriously how can you go wrong?

Once the steaming was done, into the blender they went.

Followed closely by their friends from the tomato cans.

Once everything was in, i blended on 2 and 3 (medium and highest settings) for several minutes, mostly while i found a pot and cleared the stove to set it on LOL.

Here’s the awesome Ninja in action:

Then into the pot it went.  did you know the Ninja ha d a little opening in a corner just so you can pour things out more easily?  OMG i am in love with this blender!

Do forgive my untidy and in desperate need of cleaning stove top there in the picture.  The soup came out of the blender quite frothy but that calmed down some on the stove top.  Took about 1.5 minutes to heat through and then i added in about 2 teaspoons worth of heavy cream and Bam! done.

The cheese and greenery are totally optional 🙂

This made 3 huge dinner servings.  Each serving is 2 Green.  If you add cheese Then it is also 1 Blue.

11 Things I Learned And You Should Know

On my journey to take control of my health and my fitness, as well as my weight, i have learned a number of things.   Here are the top 11 of them.

1 -Fat doesn’t make you fat.

e5ed_adipose_stress_toy

All that low-fat, fat-free stuff?  It tastes bad and all the chemicals in it are BAD for you!

2 – The scale is just a number!

You are more then that.  It is good for trending (up, or down) but the number itself is… meaningless.  I weigh 10.  I weight Q.  I weight Sigma.  These are all equivalent in meaning…

3 – Learn to cook!

Its how you get the best food,  the cheapest way.  Also, it is totally totally fun!

4 – Eat your vegetables. No really.

I didn’t quite used to like them as much as I do now.  But I branched out (haha) and tried new ones and they are AWESOME

5 – No matter how strong you get or how much you have arm muscles, sometimes you will still need help opening a jar.

And sometimes you will just need the major tool to help.

6 – Don’t let fear stop you from trying something new and getting what you want

7. Change what you don’t like

letitgo

While events in your past may have affected how and why you eat, you are in charge of the choices you make.  IF you think your weight is a problem, it is YOUR problem.

8 – There is no magic pill, just work

9 – Find something you like doing. If you don’t like it you won’t do it.

10 – Nobody is perfect so don’t get down if you have a bad day/week/month. Just get back up and on track.

Once they sit down and shut up, get back on track, today is a new day.  Tomorrow is a new day too.

Gadget reviews!

There are two new gadgets in my life.  One is the previously mentioned Ninja blender which i got for my birthday this year.  The other is a GTX101 indoor grill.  I have now tried both and can write a review of a sort, with pictures.

For the blender, so far i have mostly tried the single serving cup, because well there is only the one of me. 😀

Frozen fruit, Shakeology, water together blends really well, really fast.  certainly better then any blender i have ever owned before.

ninja   ninja2   ninja 3

Please excuse the messy kitchen.  That is strawberries, peaches, chocolate Shakeology and some water.  3 pulses of about 2 seconds each and poof, awesome shake.  I have not yet tried the main pitcher with the 6 bladed rotating thing in it.  Once i hit the store this week i will have some more things to blend.

The GTX101 indoor grill was more of a breakfast maker.  2 eggs, some frozen bell peppers defrosted, some onions, and a bit of cheese.

egg thing   eggs   eggs2

The eggs cooked in about 4 minutes, which is how long it took me to set up the Ninja and find all the fruit to put in it and blend my shake, so the timing for breakfast was great!

I put the two egg halves together with the cheese inside, and they melted the cheese making it a rather nice omeletty sort of thing.  The non stick surface was great, i didn’t have to do anything other then wipe it down with a paper towel.  Technically i should have sprayed some non stick spray but honestly … i forgot to do that and nothing stuck to anything.

I think i would have to recommend both gadgets.  Super easy and convenient.
